Turns out, I can put a number on the cost of Elon Musk’s “involvement” in UK “politics” during August 2024 and since… 4.3%. Yup. We’ve lost just 4.3% of Followers from the X account our not-for-profit uses since September 2024. It was going steadily down each month but now appears to have levelled off.

To put it another way, 95% of users don’t care what Musk does. So, now you know where you stand, I guess.

I never thought that the UK’s slide into authoritarianism would be centred on protests against the killing of women and children

Received an email today about service that is relaunching with a greater focus on “inclusivity” (in a DEI sense). The email was addressed “Dear Sir/Madam”. There’s such a long way to go.

There’s a new Microsoft Copilot ad, with everyone asking a colleague for things and she just uses Copilot… the unspoken implication is that, if she can use Copilot, so can they… so what do they need her for?

Just had to write to my MP (Alex Mayer) to clarify that I don’t support the murder of women and children. You know, by anyone? Just for the avoidance of doubt.

The presentation of “overs remaining” on cricket coverage still bothers me as a mathematician. “7.2 overs remaining” means 7 overs and 2 balls… but there are not 10 balls in an over! Outrageous.

I reckon they should do an “R-rated” season of with The Stath as a cockney-hardman version of the Dr… “Fackin’ Daleks. Again.”
In fact, a version of Turkish with a “Tommy” as his companion:
Tommy: “What are we gonna do, Dr?”
Dr: “How the fuck should I know?”

It’s amazing how often asking for help, and the accompanying need to clearly articulate the problem, leads you to the solution before anyone even answers.
