Watched The Final Destination (2009) from letterboxd.com
After a young man's premonition of a deadly race-car crash helps saves the lives of his peers, Death sets out to collect those who evaded their end.

Having said of the last installment “where could you go wrong?”

Well, here most of the foreshadowing is replaced with premonitions and that doesn’t work as well.

Still, there are some wildly inventive fatalities and the finale does actually take it up a notch.

Played Firewatch: Out now for Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Mac, and Linux (Firewatch)
Firewatch is a first-person single-player mystery set in the Wyoming wilderness, where your only emotional lifeline is the person on the other end of a handheld radio.

I played this back in August 2021 and just found some screenshots. I enjoyed it as a game but my over-riding memory is this:

Julia gets offered a job at Yale. Yale is in Connecticut, two thousand miles away. It's a great job: associate department chair. She wants to move. You absolutely do not. A) Convince her not to take the job. B) Agree if she commutes back and forth.

Basically, the protagonist is a shit.

Also, very, very lazy effort on the stars:

They've tiled an image for the stars...

Watched Urban Legend (1998) from letterboxd.com
A college campus is plagued by a vicious serial killer murdering students in ways that correspond to various urban legends.

I had very fond memories of this but, actually, it’s pretty bad. There is a super high body count, though!

On a dark and somber night, a secret cabal of monster hunters emerge from the shadows and gather at the foreboding Bloodstone Temple following the death of their leader. In a strange and macabre memorial to the leader’s life, the attendees are thrust into a mysterious and deadly competition for a powerful relic—a hunt that will ultimately bring them face to face with a dangerous monster.

Excruciatingly and infuriatingly average

Watched Tenet (2020) from letterboxd.com
Armed with only one word - Tenet - and fighting for the survival of the entire world, the Protagonist journeys through a twilight world of international espionage on a mission that will unfold in something beyond real time.

Simultaneously total 1 ⭐️ timey-wimy bollocks and a 5 ⭐️ masterpiece of such ambitious extent you’ll be mulling it over for days afterwards.

Watched My Best Friend's Exorcism (2022) from letterboxd.com
The year is 1988. Abby and Gretchen have been best friends since fourth grade. After an evening of skinny-dipping goes disastrously wrong, Gretchen begins to act…different, which leads Abby to suspect her best friend may be possessed by a demon. With help from some unlikely allies, Abby embarks on a quest to save Gretchen. But is their friendship powerful enough to beat the devil?

I wanted to like this but there is very little to recommend it. I have never used the word ‘pastiche’ in my life but it is perfect here.

Watch Jennifer’s Body instead.
